My thief has been fine and is nearly finished the game. This problem started with my Paladin near the start of the game, I went back to a much earlier save and it didnГѓВўГўвЂљВ¬ГўвЂћВўt happen again allowing me to be near finishing the game. My 3 characters are all imported from QFG3, they have skills in everything.

So this is definitely a game problem not a machine hard drive or dosbox problem. IГѓВўГўвЂљВ¬ГўвЂћВўm playing dos in dosbox on a win7 machine.

Like I said IГѓВўГўвЂљВ¬ГўвЂћВўve read in here that it happened to a guy playing the windows version of the game on a windows 98 machine in the 1990s! Also happened to a guy playing the dos version in dosbox on a winXP machine. I doubt itГѓВўГўвЂљВ¬ГўвЂћВўs a system or defrag issue. Worst comes to worst, you can reinstall your game and see if that fixes the problem. How are your Paladin and Wizard cross-classed? What accomplishments have you managed up to that point? That being said, have you noticed anything that might potentially cause the corruption? Where do you keep your QFG4 game? What kind of system do you run? When was the last time you defragged? Is DOSBox set to run in administrative mode? Or the spirit of the Awful Waffle Walker. There seems to be a pattern, like me they all had Hybrid characters, so far nothing else obvious has linked up as 1 guy was on dosbox in winXP while the other was playing the windows version of the game on a win 98 machine in the 90s! Hybrid (skilled in all abilities) seems to be the only common factor IГѓВўГўвЂљВ¬ГўвЂћВўve seen so far with this horrible game ending bug. WhatГѓВўГўвЂљВ¬ГўвЂћВўs disturbing is searches on here only find a few convos from years ago where players are all saying ГѓВўГўвЂљВ¬Г…вЂњwhy am I the only one who gets this problemГѓВўГўвЂљВ¬Г‚Вќ and people are playing guessing games accusing them of doing ГѓВўГўвЂљВ¬Г‹Е“this and thatГѓВўГўвЂљВ¬ГўвЂћВў but not really knowing what the problem is lol. My games have pretty much gone along fine (other than having to overcome the wraith NRS bug) except for triggering this super problem a few times.

I have the QFG Anthology version of QFG4 with the 1.3, NRS, and the gm sound patch all from sierra help files playing through DosBox in Win7. Once again super QFG4 paranoia has resulted in me having saves from a day ago but itГѓВўГўвЂљВ¬ГўвЂћВўs so frustrating losing a day of spell work off the character. Sure enough all saves were affected and each time I attempted to play-on the problem bled out and killed the game. I thought ГѓВўГўвЂљВ¬Г…вЂњoh sh*t not againГѓВўГўвЂљВ¬Г‚Вќ knowing that I had only just saved several times over all my saves. Same blasted thing! Plodding along increasing my spell skills in prep for the end game battles & QFG5 when BAM I went to check on my stats screen and it crashed. Well today it just happened with my Wizard this time. When I repeated using the save from a day earlier all was well and the problem did not reappear thankfully. Fortunately because I'm super paranoid when it comes to QFG4 I had some zipped saves from the day before, it hurt bad but at least I only lost a day on a character IГѓВўГўвЂљВ¬ГўвЂћВўd put weeks into. This happened to me with my Paladin a few months back, started with a stats crash and then bled out into everything killing the game, I discovered all my rotating saves from the day were after the initial corruption. ItГѓВўГўвЂљВ¬ГўвЂћВўs basically a game ender yet because it starts so slowly and only when you open you stats the beginning of the corruption can happen before you've last saved. Its essentially a corrupt save game issue as everythingГѓВўГўвЂљВ¬ГўвЂћВўs going fine and then BOOM, you get a error 47 crash just looking at your stats screen, it then starts happening every time you try, so you keep playing and steer clear of looking at your stats, but then random crashes start happening with other things like talking to characters or entering a certain area, and before you know it the game is so stuffed you can't even get to the save game menu without it crashing getting all sorts of error codes.
